Welcome to Hug Twice, my musings on being a parent and the minutiae that takes up our day to day lives.
My name is Jaimie, and many of you have probably come to this blog from my personal finance one, I’ve Paid For This Twice Already. I’ve been blogging about personal finance and the state of my family’s finances for a few months now, and I realized that although I love talking about money, I’d also like to talk about some family-oriented subject matter that doesn’t really fit the theme of that blog. So I decided to create a new blog, Hug Twice, where the focus will be more parenting, kids, marriage, and family, and less so on the details of personal finance.
Hug Twice is both a play on my finance blog’s url (paidtwice) and also a reference to the fact I have two kids, two cats, and two hugs are always better than one!
I’ve been married to my spouse Matt for over 5 years and we have two kids, who will be known on this blog as CJ and Alexa. Those are versions of their names but not their actual names to protect their privacy. Our son CJ is 3 and our daughter Alexa just turned one in October. I hope you’ll stick around to get to know them better as the days and weeks go by. They are loads of fun and can also drive one insane, but we wouldn’t trade them for anything. My spouse and I are both transplanted New Englanders, we currently live in the midwest (and plan to stay here for the long term) but our extended families reside in New England, and we miss it. Our sports team preferences reflect this fact.
The posting “schedule”, for lack of a better word, here will be different than my finance blog. I will most likely be posting here once a day in the morning on weekdays with the occasional second post or weekend post thrown in when something especially inspires me. I think. That’s my plan, anyway. I don’t think even I could keep up two blogs with three posts a day each (the “schedule” I follow with the finance blog). It’s evolving. We’ll see.
