Still no walking

Jaimie on Jan 17th 2008

I am not a patient person.

And honestly, I don’t think Alexa is either.

But, for some reason, she really is in no hurry to walk. I don’t think it is a physical issue - she has taken a step or two a number of times in the past three months, but once she does she either starts crawling or just stays where she is. She has no interest in walking to things, from things, or at things. She crawls, and that makes her happy. She also climbs. She stands up all on her own without pulling up, looks around, and sits back down. Her balance is fine, her feet and legs move correctly, she just… doesn’t walk.

At 14 months, and rapidly closing in on 15 months, she has taken a total of 17 steps, most of them one at a time.

I thought I didn’t care how late my kids walked, but I guess I do. It didn’t really bother me at all until, well, today. All of a sudden I started wondering if she’d ever walk. And I realized I really wanted her to start. Now.

Patience… for me. Heh.

Hey, she’s got 3 1/2 months on mine and he’s taking steps all over the place but not really walking either and I’m already impatient. I asked him yesterday if I was going to have to carry him to college :)

I know how you feel. My oldest didn’t walk until she was 15.5 months old. I was beginning to wonder if I was going to have to carry her around forever! lol

I not ready for Baby D to walk. She’ll be one next Tuesday. She is fast enough as it is, and into everything. If she starts walking she is really, really going to be everywhere in no time flat. She can just take her time with it, I don’t mind.

However I was really impatient for Miss R to start walking when she was that age. I couldn’t wait. So I know where you are coming from.

My son didn’t crawl until three weeks before his 1st birthday and didn’t walk until the day he turned 15 months. My son’s doctor didn’t walk until 18 months.

    I understand the impatience…
