This is what I find so amusing about the diet so far

Matt cleans his plate. Literally. I think he’s afraid if he doesn’t eat every single thing allowed to him, he’ll starve later. So even if he’s mostly full, if he’s got two pieces of melon left, he’ll eat them. Is he allowed an apple for a snack but he doesn’t feel too hungry? He’ll eat it anyway.
Really… I don’t think you’re going to starve. I mean, I’m not expert, but that doesn’t seem the point. There’s actually a large volume of food allowed, as long as you take your volume in veggies and sometimes fruit. For example, the lunch I just packed for Matt today was:
Medium salad with tomatoes and onions and 1 tbls dressing
2 carrots
2 celery stalks
4 oz tuna
1 wheat pita
So, not so bad, I thought. Make a sandwich with the tuna and pita and some of the salad veggies, and have a bunch of roughage besides. He’ll probably still claim to be hungry though.
We’re … adjusting. :) He even liked the broccoli and potato dish last night. ![]()

I think it’s actually fairly common although still amusing for people to be worried about being hungry. I have a family member doing a diet right now (more like a lifestyle overhaul) and I keep hearing her say she’s afraid of being hungry. I think once he’s been doing it for a little while he’ll realize he won’t drop dead of starvation from eating healthy food
I have found that after an inital adjustment period of three to four days, your body will begin to readjust and you won’t be feeling like you are starving all the time.
When my daughter was breastfeeding last year they made me do an elimination diet because they were trying to determine if she had food allergies. I wasn’t allowed to eat any Dairy, Soy, or Wheat products. Basically I lived on Meat and veggies. I wasn’t even allowed fruits. It was awful that first few days, but after the initial period of adjustment I stopped feeling hungry all the time. The food that I ate started to fill me up, and the months passed fairly quickly. I lost a ton of weight also, which was a nice bonus.
My point is that your Hubby may be hungry right now, but if he sticks to the diet he will eventually stop being hungry all the time. Just tell him to hang in there. Day 2 to Day 3 was the worst for me. After that is just got easier. I am sure with a loving, supportive wife to help him he will be fine. Just have him hang in there!
