Happy Birthday CJ!

Jaimie on Jun 30th 2008

I can’t believe that my first born is four years old today.  I remember being pregnant with him like it was just a few months ago.

It has been an amazing four years and it gets more interesting every day.  Happy Birthday CJ!

We all enjoyed cake yesterday and M came over for it as well.  We’ll see how things progress from here, it seems like M is still annoyed by CJ but maybe in just a typical four year old “we don’t share well” kind of way.

Being An Adult Is Complicated

Jaimie on Jun 27th 2008

I decided to keep CJ away from M for a few days.  Well, not actively away, but not let CJ go knock on their door and ask him to play.  But CJ doesn’t understand, and we live on a cul de sac, so it is hard not to go by M’s house at all since that is where we play.  So I have to basically make CJ not go near their house, even though we walk right by it.

I don’t know how to feel - if I should try to interfere or if I should just let CJ do whatever and see what happens, or what.  Argh.  This feels complicated.   I never thought I would feel so involved in all of this.

Rejection

Jaimie on Jun 26th 2008

CJ’s friend down the street, M, doesn’t want to play with CJ any more it seems.  At least, not for the past few days.  I’m not sure if something happened between the two boys that CJ hasn’t told us (or doesn’t exactly understand) or if M is just being a four year old, but the past few times CJ’s come to see if he could play M’s told him he was busy and didn’t want to.

I feel kind of sad.  I’m trying not to, but I’m afraid CJ’s been too clingy and aggressive about hanging around M all the time and has irritated him.  He doesn’t seem to be the most socially adept of children, at least not yet.  I don’t want to see CJ hurt, and I’m afraid he may be.  Because he doesn’t seem to understand that M doesn’t want to play with him, and keeps asking to go see M, even when 5 minutes before M has told him he doesn’t want to play.

Ironically, I had gone down there today to invite M and his brother for cake and ice cream this weekend for CJ’s birthday.  But I think I may nix that plan.

Just Like Daddy

Jaimie on Jun 25th 2008

Matt has been on a meal plan / diet for about 6 months now.  Part of his diet involves him eating protein snack bars.  They look kind of like granola bars, but not really.  He loves them.  I think they are okay.

Alexa has decided that she LOVES protein bars.  If she sees Matt with one, she trucks on over and steals part of it.  When I went shopping for a few to give him as a treat for his birthday (he genuinely enjoys them and it was a better snack present than chocolate would have been) she picked out one on her very own to give to him and then got mad when she had to give it up…).  She just loves everything about them.

They are expensive, so she better not develop a habit.  Granola bars are much more budget-friendly.  :)

Sleepy

Jaimie on Jun 24th 2008

I IV sedation from the colonoscopy didn’t put me to sleep during the procedure, but it sure made me sleepy afterwards.   I must have slept the entire day yesterday.  And my daughter couldn’t nurse until after miodnight, which she found highly offensive.  Poor Matthew had to deal with her hissy while I napped all day.

Nothing is wrong with my colon.  Not even a polyp.  I am boringly healthy.  Thank goodness.
