Cleaned Out

Jaimie on Jun 23rd 2008

I have a colonoscopy in a few hours.  I’ve spent the last 24 hours getting cleaned out in preparation… literally.

Ugh.

See you all on the other side, and hopefully they find absolutely nothing wrong.

On an interesting note, I weigh 11 lbs less this morning than I weighed yesterday morning.  Was there really 11 lbs of stuff in my colon?  Yuck.

And It Wasn’t Even The Bike

Jaimie on Jun 20th 2008

Yesterday at soccer, CJ tripped and went down in the dirt on his face.  From his chin to his forehead, one side of his face looks like a scraped knee… except it’s his face.

It’s not that bad, as far as injuries go, but since it is his face, it looks horrible.  He took it like a trooper though, even though he did cry a bit at first, and wasn’t happy with me getting the dirt out of his eye, but otherwise he went back to playing almost right away.

Ah, life.  I hate seeing my baby get hurt.  :(

And He Is A Big Boy

Jaimie on Jun 19th 2008

CJ started riding a regular two wheel bike for the first time today.  With training wheels, so it is really a four wheel bike.  We have had the bike for a while, it was my young cousin’s bike before it was CJ’s and my aunt sent it to us last summer.  I finally got CJ some knee pads and elbow pads today, so he was out riding the bike (helmet too of course but he had that already).  I also got wrist guards but then CJ pointed out to me that with them on, he couldn’t hold the bike’s handles so I had to let go of my broken wrist fear.

One of us had to walk right next to him, because even with the training wheels, he tended to try and tip to one side at first.  But after only a half hour, I hardly ever had to reach out towards him to steady him, so I think he’ll be riding around with his friend M without Mommy standing by pretty soon.

It is so bittersweet, this growing up thing.  And Alexa will be actually pedaling the tricycle in no time, she just needs to grow a tiny bit.  Sniff.

She Thinks She’s A Big Girl

Jaimie on Jun 18th 2008

Alexa has decided that anything CJ can do, she can do too.  She stands on his scooter, she rides his tricycle (she can’t reach the pedals so we push her along), and she generally tries to do anything he can do.  We try to help her as best we can, and let her feel like one of the big kids.

Yesterday, after CJ and his friend M took off their helmets and climbed into his treehouse, she took M’s helmet, popped it on her head, and tried to get on his bike.  Which is not a tricycle.  It is a two-wheeler, with no training wheels.

So we had to politely decline letting her have a chance to try.  She was not amused.

The French Fry

Jaimie on Jun 17th 2008

Yesterday, about mid-morning, I was discussing with CJ what he wanted to have for lunch.  We were going back and forth, he claiming he had no idea, but then rejecting everything I suggested.  While we were discussing, Alexa wandered off into the sunroom off the kitchen, which is where their play kitchen is.  I was rummaging around in the refrigerator thinking about what I was going to make since asking opinions was getting me nowhere, when Alexa came back into our kitchen and handed me something.

A plastic french fry from their kitchen set play food.

She may not really talk much, but she knows how to get her point across.

And fish nuggets and french fries with applesauce became lunch.
