Well, Not My Pizza Then

Jaimie on Sep 30th 2008

My kids, they love pizza.  Love.  Alexa will literally try to climb herself into her own high chair if she thinks there might be pizza about.

But being busy working two jobs and running a household, I generally just make frozen cheese pizza and put my own toppings on it.  But yesterday, I got creative and made my own pizza crust, sauce, and ended up with a genuinely homemade from scratch pizza.

Which Alexa loved the idea of.  But one bite and she wanted out of her chair, and was begging for frozen pizza.

You can’t win them all.  :)

CJ, on the other hand, loved it, as did Matt, so I did okay with someone.  ;)

And Then They Danced

Jaimie on Sep 29th 2008

Alexa, in one of her post-midnight wanderings with me, kept handing me a little stuffed bear and saying, very loudly, “Da!”

Which I thought meant Dada, and I told her repeatedly I was not going to wake up her father to give him a bear.

Eventually, she took the bear, shook it, and yelled “Dan!”, and it dawned on me…

She wanted the bear to dance.

And so I pranced it around and made it dance, and she was a happy camper.  :)

Uh-Uh, Uh-Uh, No.

Jaimie on Sep 26th 2008

Matt and Alexa were playing on our little indoor slide (present from grandparents for her birthday last year, yes she is spoiled) while I was tutoring online, and when I finished, I came over and picked Alexa up.  Her hair was in her face, as always, because she hates hair ties, bows, ribbons, headbands, and anything else that would keep her hair out of her eyes.   I looked at her and, without ever touching her hair, said “You really need a hairtie.”

She looked right back at me, pouted her little lip, and said, as clear as day “Uh-uh, uh-uh, no.” and then put her hand on top of her head squarely covering up where I usually try to put her hair up.

My kids are so cute I could eat them up.  :)

My Bed Is Beautiful

Jaimie on Sep 25th 2008

Last night Matt brought CJ upstairs to put him to bed, and discovered that at some point during the day, one of our cats had thrown up a hairball all over it.  So Matt stripped the sheets and made up CJ’s bed in one of our spare sheet sets.  Usually when I wash CJ’s (or any of our) sheets I do it during the day and remake the bed with the same sheets, so CJ’d never seen these sheets before.

They are maroon.  And CJ was soooo excited when Matt made up the bed with them.  He got right into bed and exclaimed:  “My bed is beautiful!”

And so it is.  :)

Stripes!

Jaimie on Sep 24th 2008

This week I took advantage of a combination of a coupon, a sale, and a store policy to get a 4-pack of Cottonelle toilet paper for free.  You can read the details here if you want to try it yourself. :)

I had never bought Cottonelle toilet paper before, so I didn’t know that it is uniquely textured in a stripe-ish kind of pattern.  I put the 4-pack in the downstairs half-bath when I brought it home Monday and yesterday morning put the first roll on the holder.  CJ came in for his morning “Yes you will sit on the potty” session, and exclaimed happily:  “Stripes!  Mommy you bought stripes!  Thank you!”

That was cute and all, but won’t make me buy them again.  However, if this makes him more apt to use the potty, Cottonelle might have gained a lifetime customer.  (No sign of that yet, though.)
