Carnival Love

Jaimie on Mar 15th 2008

I entered posts in two carnivals that went live this past week, and I wanted to take this time to thank the hosts and highlight some of the other posts I especially enjoyed from them.  Carnivals (a collection of posts all together on the same topic) are a great way to find other great bloggers you didn’t know about through reading the article they submitted.  Yay!

First, the Carnival of Family Life was at this full house and included my post asking When Did I Stop Being The Ultimate Authority.   I really do want to know… when did I stop having all the answers? Other posts I especially enjoyed included:

  • Why HomeschoolA Lesson I Am Trying To Teach My Daughters.   I think thatis a really important concept.  I can do everything, but I can’t do it all.  Even if every part of everything is something you can do, sometimes we don’t have the time and resources to actually do it all.
  • What Works For UsHow To Make Dinner With A Toddler.  I’ve been there.  Many times.  Alexa continually dumps all of our tupperware lids on the floor while I cook.
  • Raising4BoysThe Challenges of Having (More) Kids.  I’m not good at zone defense.  That’s why I stopped at 2!

The Mothers and Daughters Blog Carnival was at Real Life and my post In A Minute was included.   Alexa is a funny little girl.  :)  Other posts about mothers and daughters I particularly liked included:

  •  So Sioux MeTaekwondo for Girl Power.  I am such a proponent of martial arts for kids, not just for self defense but for learning discipline, patience, strength, courtesy… I could go on and on.  I’m a 3rd degree black belt myself so I have a little bias.  :)  This is a great post talking about the benefits the author sees with her own daughter.
  • the so called meMedia Makes Moms Look Unrealistic.  So true.  So sooooo true.  I often look like I just took a nap.  Heh.

Thanks so much to the hosts and all the participants!  Make sure to visit these great carnivals for yourself and find some posts you love!

Around the carnival circuit this week

Jaimie on Dec 22nd 2007

A number of carnivals went live this part week that HugTwice was a part of. Exciting stuff! I hope you will check out each of the carnivals yourself, there is so much great stuff out there. :) Here are some of the things that caught my eye.

The Mom’s Blogging Carnival was at Australian Women Online and my post How Was School Today? was included. I also enjoyed this post very much, it was great food for thought:

  • The Health and Life Mixing Bowl: Is Selfish A Bad Word For Moms? I think I could learn to be a wee bit more selfish. Although I think Matt is a lot more giving of his time and energy than I am much of the time.

The Carnival of SAHMs is at Mom is Teaching and featured my post Resourcefulness. We are pretty resourceful, us moms! This post made me super-nostalgic…

  • Life Nurturing Education: Searching For Snow Globes. I didn’t know snow globes had batteries now either. Ah, how old I am…

The Carnival of Family Life is at Adventures in Juggling and the author, 21 years ago, was very very pregnant with a stubborn baby that didn’t want to come out. Oh, I can relate! CJ refused so vehemently that eventually he had to be surgically removed - and Matt claims that CJ spent that next month trying to crawl back in the womb. Reading about that was a little stroll down memory lane for me. My post When Your Child Loves It But You Do Not was included, and I thought this book review was excellent:

  • Four Pillars: Buy Buy Baby. This is a book I think I will soon be reading!

And the All Women Blogging Carnival was at Moggie Madness and my post Simple Consideration was included. I love the name of this blog…

  • Three Ring Circus: I Know How She Feels. It is hard to watch your child not quite fit in and wish there was something you could do.

Go check out these great carnivals! And then get back to wrapping gifts. ;)

Carnivals featuring hug twice this past week!

Jaimie on Dec 16th 2007

A blog carnival is a collection of posts about a particular subject, gathered together and published in link form on a single blog. The participants submit their articles for consideration and the host blog picks what fits and publishes them together. It is a great way to find other blogs writing about similar topics to what you are, and a fun way to build community. This past week, three carnivals went live that had posts from this blog included, and I am really excited!

First, the Mothers and Daughters Carnival was at Real Life and my post Baby Curls was included. When I popped over to read the carnival, a post from the host blog really caught my attention - What Did I Get Done Today - and the author is so right. We need to remember all the things we did do like hugged our kids instead of going crazy over what didn’t get accomplished. I especially liked this carnival post:

  • Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe: Giant Pink Marshmellow. So cute! I can’t wait to take Alexa and CJ sledding this year, although Alexa will be a blue marshmellow. ;)

The Carnival of Family Life was at the so called me and my post Snow Day, Interrupted was included. I’ve come to enjoy the two hour delays, though. :) I also related to these carnival posts:

And last but certainly not least, the Carnival of SAHMs is at Wired For Noise and my post One Year Old Pictures, Just a Month Late was included! I need to go pick up those pictures today actually… while I’m doing that, check out this post:

  • Seabird Chronicles: The $1500 Faucet. Isn’t that how life always is? One thing leads to another and another and…

Thank you to all the carnival hosts for including me and click on over to find some favorites for yourself!

Family Life and SAHMs - The Carnivals

Jaimie on Dec 9th 2007

This past week, two of my posts were included in carnivals around the web. I really enjoyed reading the other posts in each of these carnivals so I wanted to highlight a few of my favorites from each one.

First off, the Carnival of Family Life was in Australia at Imaginif, and included my post No One Told Me This Stuff in Parenting School. I was really excited to be included among such great entries such as:

  • Fiveberries In Texas: Shopping. With kids. Fun. I have to remember this, if I ever dare to bring my kids shopping. I’ll get a lot more done this way!
  • Mama’s Coffee Break: One of Those Moms. I feel like that a lot. I need to meet more people. Maybe who don’t have kids even.

And at the Carnival of SAHMs at Adentures of an Awesome (Sometimes) Mother (what a great name for a blog!), my post Enough was included. Yes, my son has definitely had enough. Heh. I especially enjoyed this entry:

  • More4Kids: A Typical Day in the Life of a SAHM. My kids are smaller so they don’t both leave the house all day, but a lot of this post was true for me. It is a very big juggling act!

I’ll chime in next weekend with this week’s carnivals and my picks from them! Thanks for reading. :)
